The Origin of Untie — Unraveling Inner Knots, Weaving Beautiful Connections
I’m Miss lady, the founder of Untie. For over a decade, I have struggled with severe depression. Though we often understand many truths intellectually, emotional knots can feel like tight, dead-end tangles—the harder we try to unravel them, the tighter they become. Years of seeking help through psychiatry, counseling, and medication only seemed to pull the knots tighter.
After experiencing both mental and physical distress for over ten years—including episodes of dissociation—and coming close to “logging out” of life this year, I decided to shift my perspective. Instead of obsessing over untangling every knot, why not transform them into something beautiful and meaningful? And so, Untie was born.
"Untie" means to release, but it also symbolizes connection and new beginnings. Even in the shadows of life, I have felt countless acts of kindness and warmth on this small, beautiful island—Taiwan. Through Untie, I hope to pass on this warmth, so that everyone who receives our creations can feel love and encouragement—the true meaning of letting go in Chinese: 不糾結 (bù jiū jié).
Cultural Heritage ✕ Creative Craft ✕ Healing the Soul
We are not just selling products—we are sharing ways of healing.
I graduated with a degree in fashion and was once a national cheongsam (qipao) competition contestant. Traditional qipao craftsmanship involves meticulous hand-sewing, yet ironically, my own handwork has never been particularly delicate. Various factors, including physical symptoms of depression and my heavy love for American-style coffee, often leave my hands trembling.

Untie’s workshop is located in Tainan, southern Taiwan—a city where history meets modernity, and tradition blends with innovation.
Not just a tourist hotspot, Tainan is a cradle of creative design, nurturing countless handmade crafts full of stories and emotions.
Taiwan’s cultural and creative industries act like a "washing machine" of inspiration, blending global influences into imaginative creations—much like Taiwan’s beloved wordplay culture—unique, humorous, and heartwarming.
We hope that everyone who receives an Untie creation will be inspired to be a little kinder to themselves, to embrace their own stories.
Be kind to yourself.
All of our designs are intended to be gender-neutral—wear them however you want, however you feel.
Even if you wish to cut or alter them as a way to express your emotions, that's perfectly fine.
Because being kind to yourself means allowing freedom, expression, and healing.
